Lightning Decision Support System (LDSS)

WDSS has developed a Lightning Decision Support System (LDSS) which integrates lightning data with customer asset information to provide automatic alerts of lightning activity associated with the location of these assets. LDSS algorithms produce 60-minute forecasts of lightning activity and intensity. Detections and forecasts are used to produce lightning alerts in proximity with customer assets. The customer is able to add, delete, and edit assets through the web page display.

Lightning data ingest from a local lightning detection network are used as singular points for proximity alerts and also gridded. A history of gridded fields are used in algorithms to forecast the lightning activity.

A web-based display system allows users to view lightning data, forecast lightning activity compared to user defined asset locations. Automated alerts are provided with assets that are in, or forecast to be in, proximity to lighting activity within user defined distances.
